Standard Specifications for Water & Sewer Main Construction in Illinois to be Updated

The Standard Specifications for Water & Sewer Main Construction Committee began meeting in October, 2004, to revise the Standard Specs document. The committee includes representatives from:

Illinois Municipal League (IML)

American Public Works Association (APWA)

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)

Advisory:

Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)

Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA)

Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH)

The Committee's investigative work will be conducted utilizing the following Task Forces with corresponding Chairpersons:

Recommendations for Change

The committee welcomes your written comments, suggestions, and recommended changes to the document. Task Force Chairs may call upon those submitting changes to explain or expand on your recommendations.

Each organization submitting recommendations is requested to direct written comments to the appropriate Task Force Chair and either e-mail or mail a copy to:

Process

The Revision Committe is currently meeting.
Once the draft is complete, it will be released for a 60 day comment period.
Following the comment period, the committee will take 30-45 days to complete the document.
The Revision Committee now anticipates an early 2008 release of the book.
