The Illinois Society of Professional Engineers is committed to being
the premier Society representing your professional license in the state
of Illinois.
The Illinois Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE), established in
1886, is a professional association representing the interests of over
2,500 engineer members from all fields of practice. Headquartered in Springfield,
ISPE includes among its membership licensed professional engineers, licensed
structural engineers, licensed land surveyors, engineer interns, graduate
engineers, and engineering students.
ISPE is a state society member of the National Society of Professional
Engineers, and consists of 21 chapters throughout the State of Illinois.
ISPE is governed by a Board of Directors made up of an elected Executive
Committee and Representatives appointed from each Chapter.
In addition to the main Society, ISPE’s affiliate organizations
include the ISPE Foundation, a not-for-profit
organization that provides scholarships to engineering students and
funds the state MATHCOUNTS
competition for junior high students, and the ISPE
PAC, a registered
political action committee supporting Illinois candidates for elected
office.
At ISPE we strive to improve your professional life as a professional
engineer.
- We provide our membership with a voice as professional
engineers and represent your professional license before state government.
- We provide services and resources to enhance your career in professional
engineering.
- We promote the public welfare, adhering to the highest ethical standards.
- We promote the engineering profession with youth by working closely
with Illinois engineering schools to promote academic achievement
and licensing.
ISPE is an organization that stands for the highest standards of honesty,
integrity and ethical conduct, impartiality, fairness and equity, and
a dedication to promoting public health, safety, and welfare.
Engineer's Creed
As a Professional Engineer, I dedicate my professional knowledge and skill to the advancement and betterment of human welfare.
I Pledge:
To give the utmost of performance;
To participate in none but honest enterprise;
To live and work according to the laws of man and the highest standards of professional
conduct;
To place service before profit, the honor and standing of the profession before personal
advantage, and the public welfare above all other considerations.
In humility and with need for Divine Guidance, I make this pledge.
